 National Security Advisor (NSA) AjitDoval on Wednesday reached Srinagar to review the security situation in Jammuand Kashmir. In Srinagar, the NSA will hold meetings with security forces andstate government officials to review the situation following abrogation ofArticle 370. Doval will also decide the future course of action necessary forsmooth implementation of government plans. The government of India abrogatedArticle 370 on August 5 and bifurcated the state of Jammu and Kashmir into twoseparate Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. However, the duration of Ajit Doval's stay is not known asof now. It is not clear how long the National Security Adviser (NSA) will be inKashmir. The NSA had camped for 11 days in the valley after the Centreannounced its decision to withdraw the special status of the state underArticle 370 and split it into two UTs on August 5. During that period, he had ensured that there was no violencein the aftermath of the government's decision. During his previous stay, he hadtaken rounds of the militancy-hit Shopian town in south Kashmir and DowntownSrinagar. He had also addressed personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPFand Army separately, telling them about their successes in disturbed areas andunderling their importance in ensuring the safety of the country and citizens.
